DAAD INVITES TO GERMANY
DAAD INVITES TO GERMANY
"If people, on Saturday, despite this beautiful sun, are sitting at the conference, it means: either they are Germans, or have lived in Germany ..."

GAES (DAAD) Secretary General Christian Boden began his speech with these words at todays meeting in Yerevan State University. German Academic Exchange Service has got branches all over the world; the service promotes international cooperation with German universities abroad, organizing exchanges of students and scientists, launches international educational and scientific programs and projects.

1300 Armenians have participated in summer schools and been provided with study visits with the help of DAAD, as well as provided with scholarships.

In the framework of the week of Germany in the Southern Caucasus a meeting with the graduates of Yerevan State University was organized, who in various years have been awarded a scholarship DAAD. The meeting was attended by newly appointed Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Armen Ashotyan, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, German Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Victorine and other high-ranking guests.

One of the most secret desires of the Armenian people since the early 19th century, to see the Armenology as a science, emerged owing to Germans. Do not forget that the entire galaxy of the Armenians intellectual people, pedagogues and scholars at the beginning of last century, was educated in German universities, and then returned home and started to create a structure that is now called Yerevan State University ,-said the Rector of Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan.

Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Armen Ashotyan, congratulating Yerevan State University on the occasion of 90th anniversary of foundation, said: Countries like ours can only be developed with proper use of human resources. I am pleased to note that the volume of development in the field of culture and education is much higher than in other areas.

The event was highlighted with energy by the string quartet Expromt, by the works of Komitas, Fritz Chrysler. Christian Bodin then invited all present to be photographed on the steps of the university, so that later, after 50-60 years, to remember this moment.
