In the end of 2008 a well-known German data handbook Landolt Brnstein made a focus on an organic substance Diethyl Sulphoxide, studied and researched by the above mentioned chair. It has got a great biomedical significance and important physico-chemical characteristics.
Head of this chair Doctor of Chemistry, Professor Shiraz Margaryan mentioned that it is a great honor to be published in this handbook, as our republic as well as the very chair appeared in the center of the world of science.
This is a result of a serious team work: many young scientists in this area were included in this process. If You search for this substance in the Internet, You will see the names of Armenian scientists on your monitor. Our success depends on scientific grants. And the result is that our laboratories are being equipped with the necessary equipment, - he said.
This chair participates in the grant contest, provided by the Armenian National Foundation of Science and Education at Armenian Support Foundation of USA. This year the chair was the winner of the grant after Armen Avanesyants.
By the way this is the third appearance for this chair in this contest. The first victory was in 2006.
Mr. Margaryan thinks that it is very important for such a country as Armenia is, as each scientific project, that must be financed, must have a professional approach with the involvement of foreign specialists, as any estimation of activities starts with expertise.
As for young specialists and students head of this chair thinks they must be more industrious and continue their activities in the area: Chemistry is a fundamental science, a connecting link between Physics and Biology.
