Junior Faculty Development Program is realized by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The goal of the project is to provide the lecturers to take trainings in the area of social sciences and humanities.
The project provides with an opportunity to establish relations between the US and Armenian universities for long-term cooperation. JFDP participants cooperate with their American colleagues, making educational projects, researching new methods of tutoring; get acquainted with innovative materials, as well as present the American professors and students the educational system and culture of their countries.
The participants are provided with housing in the universities in USA, where they attend lessons, participate in conferences, as well as make lectures. They are provided with scholarship (to cover the everyday expenses), travel expenses (international and local), medical insurance, financial means for training and scientific materials (scientific conferences, manuals, etc).
The participants are given certificates after the successful accomplishment of the program, afterward they become the members of great community of alumni of student exchange program, realized by the US Government. The alumni are provided with an opportunity to apply for grants and participate in the international conferences.
To participate in the program the applicants must participate in contest. The applicant must be a citizen of Republic of Armenia, must have at least two-year experience of tutoring in HEI, English language knowledge, run the deadlines, have the right to get J11 visa.
The open contest is chosen for JFDP. The application forms are available in the JFDP Office or official website. The application forms must be presented to the American Councils Office before the mentioned deadline. The documents, submitted for the first stage will be estimated by the specialists and lecturers, afterward, in the next stage, the applicants will be invited for an interview in English language and to take TOEFL.
In the final stage the experts group, summarizing the results of previous stages (written application form, TOEFL and interview), will choose the participants. JFDP 2009-2010 will be announced in the beginning of July of current year.
