MEDICINAL ROOTS IN THE DEPTH OF HISTORY
MEDICINAL ROOTS IN THE DEPTH OF HISTORY
"Creating the future of medicine is possible only with the knowledge of its history."

This is the opinion of the Chairman of Student Scientific Society of YSU Faculty of Chemistry Andranik Petrosyan. Today, on his initiative, 3rd year students of the Chair of Pharmaceutical chemistry conducted a seminar on topic Medicine in the mirror of history.

The purpose of the seminar is to deepen the interest of students of junior courses to our specialty. We, as chemists, pharmacologists, have tried to observe our specialty from the aspect of medicine , - said Andranik Petrosyan.

11 students of 3rd year told the audience about the origin of medical knowledge and signs, presented medicine of Ancient Egypt, Ancient India, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Tibet, Europe, Medieval Ages and Renaissance, Arabic medicine.

In Egypt, it was believed that the soul of a deceased person is returned to the body and finds no rest until the body can be fully protected. Therefore the bodies were being mummified, using the juices from a variety of medicinal plants, - said Andranik Petrosyan.

And Lilit Hovhannisyan, representing Tibetan medicine, noted that this medicine has been largely influenced by Chinese and Indian medical traditions. The Tibetan doctors linked all illnesses with spirits and monsters.

The choice of topics, according to Andranik Petrosyan, is due to the major achievements and traditions in the field of medicine. The topics were suggested by students, and if the issue of choice, we tried to give them advices. Basic information students gained from the book by Marchukova Medicine in the mirror of history and the Internet , - said the organizer.

According to Andranik all subjects complement each other, making a unified whole. Despite the fact that the faculty lecturers have expressed their willingness to help the students in question, however, the students tried to submit a separate work. Finally the goal of the seminar was to present articles, and, so, largely available materials were submitted, that were deprived of the experimental part, peculiar to chemistry.
