THE EVENT DEDICATED TO THE 160TH ANNIVERSARY OF MOVES SILICYAN TOOK PLACE IN YSU
The exploits of Movses Silikyan were presented in the framework of the event held at YSU Charles Aznavour Culture Center with a combination of cultural numbers.

During the event, YSU Vice-Rector for Development and Innovations Mikayel Hovhannisyan referred to the chronological relevance of the founding of Yerevan State University and the Battle of Sardarapat, stressing that the leadership of knowledgeable and professional people was important in both cases.

 

"The event is the best opportunity to reevaluate the work of Movses Silikyan and recognize him as a son of the Udi people," emphasized M. Hovhannisyan.

 

 

 "The culture center stresses the organization of such events that emphasize the relationship between culture and science. In this case, historical science is connected to culture, and they, in fact, cannot be far from each other," stated the director of the culture center K. Davtyan.

 

 

Referring to the importance of holding the event at YSU, the president of the "Revival of the Udi People of Historical Caucasian Albania (Aghvank)" NGO, philologist, and classical singer Susanna Abrahamyan emphasized, “It is very honorable to hold this event at Yerevan State University, because the university was founded in a heroic period, in 1919, and famous historians, philologists, philosophers, poets, and other notable people studied here, who left an indelible mark on Armenian and world science and history, where today's young people get acquainted with their continuous experience.

 

 

The representatives of the YSU faculty, distinguished guests, historians, ethnographers, and other famous people were also present at the event. The event was organized by the initiative of the YSU Charles Aznavour Culture Center and the "Revival of the Udi People of Historical Caucasian Albania (Aghvank)" NGO.

Within the framework of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI) Global Teaching Labs (GTL) program Yerevan State University (YSU) hosted three students back in January this year for the first time. MIT students Yu Jing Chen, Anne Snyder, and Sean Zhang taught three different subjects and held hands-on workshops for YSU students.
