In such a way journalists imagined the advertisement of Yerevan State University, who were invited to the seminar in Tsakhkadzor. Administration of Public Relations and Information of YSU had organized a seminar-discussion for Armenian Media groups under the title YSU in Media. The event took place at YSU educational-economic complex on the 1st -2nd of December.
This event was organized to give detailed information on the structural sub-divisions of YSU, academic process and current activities. The meeting with YSU authorities provided the journalists with an opportunity to stress on the present problems of the University and to try to find joint ways of solution. YSU Rector and Vice-rectors visited the participants.
YSU Vice-rector Arsen Karamyan talked on the process of reconstruction affairs of Dilijan Sport and Health Complex and the current activities connected with students and graduates. We do our best to make the statistics of the following: which part of our annual graduates solves the problem of employment. The new-established Career Center develops relations with the employers to support the students and graduates to overcome the obstacles in this sphere.
YSU Vice-rector Samvel Harutyunyan focused in his report on the fundamental ways of YSU academic policy and the achievements in the sphere of international cooperation. Despite the fact that the conditions of our scientific-research laboratories are not satisfactory, anyway, some steps are done in this area. Last year the Faculty of Physics obtained equipment for the laboratory for about one million USD. This year, according to Mr. Harutyunyan a project of 300000$ will be realized, 210000 form which will serve for the acquisition of laboratory equipment and the other part will be used for the tuition of postgraduate students, organization of seminars and other problems.
Vice-rector added that YSU has agreements with about 100 Higher Educational Institutions, but only 40 of them are being realized today. Within the framework of these agreements student and tutor exchange programs are being realized together with postgraduate studies. As an example he pointed out the fact that annually about 70 YSU students enter various universities of Russian Federation and this is within the limits of the law On Military Service of the RA.
The staff of seminar-discussion had foreseen contests with different roles for the participants. They were offered to prepare advertisements about Alma Mater using the information obtained during the seminar. In addition, they were offered to present such a situation where the tutor tried to take a bribe form a student, or when the student, having prepared nothing for the examination tried to give a bribe to the honest tutor. This was followed by a heat discussion.
Anna Ghukasyan, a journalist from TV Company Yerkir Media, said that she was greatly satisfied by the seminar and added: I saw the University in a quietly different way and understood that a really serious and significant mission is undertaken there. Her colleagues were of the same opinion.
