According to the tradition, established in recent years, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs visits the freshmen of YSU Faculty of International Relations on the 1st of September. These meetings are of great importance. You are being provided with an opportunity to communicate with our politicians and diplomats to apply this experience in future on practice,-said YSU Rector Aram Simonyan.
Minister Edward Nalbandyan, congratulating the freshmen on the occasion of their entrance and the 1st of September, first presented in brief the activities and achievements of the last year. I am sure that some of You will be in future involved in the sphere of diplomatic service in Armenia and your activities will be directed to the protection of interests of our motherland, - aid Mr. Nalbandyan in the beginning of the meeting.
After the introduction our Minister expressed his willingness to answer to the questions the students were interested in. The focus was generally made on Armenian-Turkish relations and Karabakh Conflict resolution.
The last year was full of tense events from several aspects: a new qualitative stage was opened owing to the RA Presidents efforts in the area of Armenian-Turkish relations. As for the Karabakh conflict regulation, here it was important to react upon the obvious militaristic trends coming from Baku and in some sense to bring Azerbaijan back to the negotiation stage.
In the international sphere Armenian is considered to be a reliable partner, whose undertaken steps are welcomed worldwide. While inside of the country sometimes it seems there is some kind of mistrust towards our power. It is as if we can not initiate something prudent, stand on our positions in the international sphere, overcome the obstacles not only without any loss, but having profit, - said Mr. Nalbandyan.
I guess no other initiative could be so inspiring, but this one. I am very surprised, as a freshman, that our fellows are so well informed of the RA foreign policy. If this tradition is followed next year, I promise to be one of the most active participants at the meeting, as many questions have appeared on the agenda for me right today, - shared her impressions YSU Faculty of International Relations freshman Marianna Javakhyan.
