The anniversary event was organized by students of the youngest faculty of YSU. Singing, dancing, jokes ... awards and certificates: this was the agenda of this anniversary.
In addition to the cultural part, the results of the Student Conference, held on the eve of this celebration, were also summed up. Three of about 20 participants of the conference (Syune Harutyunyan, Gayane Harutyunyan, Hakob Matevosyan) received awards and cash prizes - 20, 30 and 50 thousand drams.
IPSC (Institute of Political and Sociological Consulting) company had prepared a special award for the University of Frankfurt Professor Tilman Alert for major contributions in the sphere of sociology in Armenia. IPSC has announced a scholarship contest for this academic year, for which the research project must be submitted by February 28. The competition winner will be provided with the opportunity to make a research within 6 months, receiving a monthly scholarship of 50.000 AMD.
In 2009-2010 academic year about three dozen students of the faculty have been sent abroad and participated in several international projects, workshops and summer schools. The certificates of participation were handed over to them right during this festive event. 4th year student of this faculty, Chairman of Student Council of the faculty Arpine Aghjoyan is one of those lucky, who participated in the Student Workshop this year on May 20 to 31 in Konstanz University (Germany) entitled Collective symbols and identity building. Western traditions of Sociology are numerous, and various study visits to European countries greatly support our faculty regarding the experience exchange, - says Arpine.
If seniors were getting certificates for some competitions and workshops, the newcomers, freshmen of the faculty, received their student cards and test books during the event. By the way, during the celebration, a little late, the Faculty of Sociology decided to give the prize to its Best Student of 2009. It was second-year MA student Stepan Aghababyan and the prize was handed over him by the dean of the faculty Arthur Mkrtichyan.
