The activity of the Faculty’s SC
The Student Council of the Faculty of Oriental Studies was founded in 1994. The Faculty's Student Council has 6 members.
The Student Council of the Faculty of Oriental Studies highly implements the main responsibility, which is to protect students’ rights. During exams and liquidation circle all the members of Student Council are always with students, they follow the procedure of exams, hear their complaints and solve their problems. The Student Council created the orientalists’s political and analytical club, which allows students to master the information about the political situation and foreign policy of investigated countries and to view this information in the context of the Armenia’s foreign policy.
The Student Council does everything to inform students about their rights and responsibilities, for this purpose meetings are regularly organized, especially with freshmen, as most of the students, graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, carry out their activity in the diplomatic field and this is why we highlight the knowledge of debating art and culture of speech among students. In order to give students these skills special courses are organized, which teach students the exact debating rules.
Every year on New Year’s Eve the Student Council of the Faculty of Oriental Studies organizes charity events which aim is to give smile to the children, growing up in Armenia's orphanages, before New Year.
One of the purposes of the Student Council is to introduce students’ Armenian national culture and its devotees: Setting this goal we organize meetings with Armenian prominent cultural figures. We also highlight the spreading national songs and dances among students, which promote students’ patriotic upbringing and strengthening patriotic spirit among students.
In this purpose, we not only participate in various dance festivals organized in Yerevan, but also try to hold inter-faculty folk dance trainings.
Along with all this, the Faculty of Oriental Studies has many traditional events like the debate championship named after “Mery Qochar”, the inter-faculty football championship named after Monte Melqonyan, the intellectual game named "What, Where, When”, the rhetoric championship, students' visit to Oshakan where students get their credit books. All these events occur every year and they have become traditional and annual events.
