Short description

The work is devoted to investigation of photo-orientation process of liquid crystal polymer molecules using ultra-short laser beam, working out of laser optimal parameters for realization of the given task. To study the dependence of photo-orientation quality from type of liquid crystal polymer, thickness of layer, conditions of deposition. At the end of the project it is supposed using developed technological operations to prepare some optical elements of new type, based on liquid crystal polymers – polarization diffraction grating, centrally and axially symmetric elements, as well as Pancharatnam-Berry geometrical phase elements. A part of investigations will be carried out using “S-pulse” laser of DELTA Micro-fabrication station in “Candle” company. For this purpose the subcontract with this company and salary for employee of “Candle”, serving laser, are provided. The president of USA “BEAM Co.” company is a Consultant of the presented project. This company has a big experience of working with liquid crystals and today “BEAM Co.” is the only commercial producer of liquid crystal polymers.
