Short description

The main goal of this proposal is to investigate the simultaneous influence of Rashba spin-orbit (SO) coupling and intense laser and magnetic fields on the electronic, impurity and exciton states as well as optical properties of quantum complex heterostructures. The first aim of this proposal is to study the Rashba SO coupling effect on electronic and impurity states in quantum dot-ring (QDR) structures. On the other hand the effect of an intense laser field on the electronic and impurity states will be investigated by performing the unitary Kramers-Henneberger transformation. The other aim of the project is to investigate the exciton Aharonov-Bohm effect in coupled QDR structures in the presence of an intense laser field and Rashba SO interactions. In all cases the intraband and interband optical absorption coefficients, as well as the photoluminescence peak position will be investigated taking into account the mentioned influences. Because of the unique topology of the QDR structure, the influence of the Rashba SO interaction in the presence of magnetic field will be more pronounced than for single quantum dots and rings. We think that these phenomena may have important consequences on spintronic applications based on coupled quantum dot-ring systems.
