The lecture was entitled “Why no victories were made in irregular wars after Vietnam war (1975-2019)?”.

The event was organized by the Department of International Cooperation of YSU.

The teachers and students of the Faculties of Oriental Studies, History, International Relations were present at the lecture.

Gerard Shalian is one of the eminent French political experts, the author of numerous scientific and feature books. His “Memories of my memory” tells about the author’s uncle who struggled against enemy during the years of the Genocide.

Gerard Shalian started the lecture with the question “Which was the most important event of the last 20 years?” Asking his question himself, he noted that the most important event of the last 20 years was China’s becoming the second state of the world.

He also informed that China made a decision to re-operate the Silk Road. They work in three fronts: try to establish their dominance in the Chinese sea in spite of the US; the second-develop their army; the third- develop their science, research to surpass the USA.

The whole lecture is available in Armenian.

In this respect, it is necessary to seek for an alternative energy resource. Bio-electrochemical (biological fuel cells) systems can generate an electricity by using microorganisms or enzymes, as biocatalysts. The coupling of electricity generation to utilization of waste materials containing glycerol and lignocellulose may simultaneously provide both economic and environmental benefits.

The main mechanism of biological fuel cell operation is based on conversion of chemical energy into electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen conversion to produce electricity, heat, and water.

Currently the research group of Prof. Trchounian at the Department of Biochemistry, microbiology and biotechnology successfully performs joint project with the Group of Laboratory of enzymes, Institute of Microbiology, NAS Minsk, Belarus. The goals of the new project of Prof. ArmenTrchounian’s entilted “Redox regulation of activity of microbial oxidoreductases used in bioelectrochemical devices” will be focused on the acivity stimulation of already screened microbial oxidoreducases and optimization of the bioelectrochemical system. Waste materials will be used for microbial cultivation, which will support economical generation of both electricity and fuel (hydrogen). During the project, joint study visits of members of both groups are planned.

This research is of great importance as will promote the research and development of Biological fuel cell technique in Armenia and region.

During the conference held on May 14-16, the students of YSU, ASPU after Kh. Abovyan, University of Linguistics and Public Sciences after V. Bryusov, Gavar State University will come up with reports.

The reports relate to the Armenian language, linguistics and literature. The Dean of the Faculty Artsrun Avagyan, lecturers and students of the faculty were present at the event.

To hold the lecture, the “Integration and Development” analytic and research NGO invited the head of the centre for British Studies of the Institute of Europe of Russian Academy of Science, PhD Elena Ananieva.

Elena Ananieva informed that the relationship between Russia and Great Britain have always been interesting and are really worth observation.
The assistant at the Chair of International Relations and Diplomacy, the president of ‘Integration and Development” NGO, coordinator of the Eurasian expert club Aram Safaryan informed those present about the institute the lecturer represents.

Elena Ananieva cited the eminent English politician Lord Palmerstone (1784-1865), who said that England has no eternal allies and no perpetual enemies, it only has perpetual interests.

Elena Ananieva referred to both partner and hostile relations between the two states in different periods, outlines the losses and achievements both countries had in each period.

The vice president of “Dassault systems” Christian Nardi and the senior director for academic programs Xavier Fouger, the YSU Vice-Rector on Academic Affairs Menua Soghomonyan, the Vice-Rector on Scientific Policy and International Cooperation Arsen Babajanyan, the head of YSU Educational and Research Centre of Information Technology, Doctor of Physics and mathematics, Professor, the RA NAS Academician Samvel Shukuryan, the deputy Dean of the Faculty of the Faculty of Biology Karen Ghazaryan, the head of the Chair of Telecommunication and Signal Processing of the Faculty of Radiophysics Hovhannes Haroyan, the head of the Chair of Digital Analysis and Mathematical Modelling Yuri Hakobyan and the head of the Chair of Higher Mathematics of the Faculty of Physics Martin Grigoryan were present at the meeting.

“Dassault systems” is engaged in creation of innovative solutions in the sphere of science, education and technics and is ready to cooperate with YSU in these fields. They studied the activity of these fields in YSU. The visit was cognitive, and the parties arranged to study the circle of interest and to find points for mutually beneficial cooperation.
