Today YSU Library organized a seminar, devoted to the resources of the Virtual Reading Hall of the dissertations of digital library of the Russian State Library and the rules of use of these resources. The seminar was conducted by the librarians of the Russian State Library. By the way, YSU Library cooperates with the Russian State Library since 2008.

As YSU Library Director Ashot Alexanyan noted, the opportunity is jointly provided by YSU Library and the Russian side, and the program is not free of charge, but the Russian State Library has provided YSU with the opportunity with one-year free access to the program. The Director also expressed his hope that in future it will also be possible to use this program, making periodic payments.

Welcoming the guests, Vice-rector of Yerevan State University on Students, Alumni and Public Affairs Ruben Markosyan said: Last year the 90th anniversary of our library was celebrated, and we assure you that the electronic and information resources have got a very important place in the strategy of development of the library. I think the virtual reading hall of dissertations will be a stimulus for the researches, as well as for scientific communication between the researchers.

Supervisor of the project Digital Library of Dissertations Nina Avdeeva spoke about the rich resources of the electronic library of dissertations, the history of the Russian State Library, and also provided with statistical data on the number of users.

Deputy Head of the Department On the Availability of the Electronic Resources of the Russian State Library Tatiana Blinova stressed on the rules of use of the resources, the principles of search, the documents contained therein and materials, in addition the rights of readers and their limitations were also presented.

After the seminar the opening of the virtual reading hall was organized in the Reading Hall 603. Tatiana Blinova presented our library staff the terms of use of their website - diss.rsl.ru. At the end of the meeting guests expressed their gratitude for the attention and expressed the hope that cooperation will be of a continuous nature.
