DOUBLE CELEBRATION AT YSU
[17.05.12]
Yesterday, the Big Hall of YSU Main Building was full of joy, happiness and sweet emotions. The names of best students of current season were going to be announced.
According to the already established tradition May 16 is a day of a double celebration at Yerevan State University, as this is the date of YSU foundation and the annual award-giving ceremony Best Student is held right on this day. By the way, YSU became 93 years old.
Alma Mater anthem, performed by YSU Choir, heralded the beginning of the event, after which the participants were welcomed by YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, who congratulated those present on the occasion of the anniversary and once again highlighted the role of Alma Mater: YSU is not just a university, it is a great cultural center, the environment and a place where the environment is created, and finally the spirit, which expresses the dreams and wishes of our people.
It should be noted that the competition is conducted in accordance with the regulation, adopted by YSU Academic Council. Three candidates are annually nominated for this title by each of the faculties. The requirements are the following ones: industriousness, exemplary behavior, active involvement in the university life. Finally the Competition Commission votes for the best candidate.
The Commission was headed by YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Affairs Ruben Markosyan and was composed of the managers of different departments of the university.
YSU Cultural Centre scholars, chamber orchestra, choir, boys and girls dance ensembles, individual performers from various faculties made the atmosphere even more festive.
The best students were awarded certificates and YSU bronze medals. We should add that the event was organized by YSU Student Affairs Division and Cultural Centre. The event came to its finish line with the performance of boys and girls dance ensembles.
