The republican scientific conference "Translation in the Context of Intercultural Communication" was opened on the 3rd of July in the Hall after Charents of YSU.
"Despite the fact that this conference is held in YSU, it also involves specialists from other IHE and academic institutions, whose general activities are in the area of translational skills and intercultural communication",- said YSU Rector Aram Simonyan in his opening speech.
The organizational activities of this conference were supported by the ministries of Culture and Education and Science of RA.
RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan said about the establishment of "Foundation of Collaboration for CIS in the Area of Humanities" and each member country will have its benefit in the activities of this organization. Armenia has proper benefit in the activities of this foundation and the investments in corresponding spheres are expected beginning with autumn of 2007.
A great forum with a symbolic title "Translation as Attractive Field for Cultural Interaction "will be held in Yerevan this autumn. It has a goal to compare and coordinate the potential of our countries in this field. Delegations from about 10 countries of CIS will participate in this great event. Among them one will find specialists in the area of translational skills, literature, outstanding writers and personalities from the world of culture. This conference with the duration of two days is the first step to this forum.
"I am too happy that YSU took the initiative of this conference for us to have more definite position during the coming forum. More, such discussions will become regular and will be organized in the framework of the Day of Translators",- said RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan.
Two topics are on the agenda: "Art translation: theory and practice" and "Art text in the system of intercultural communication".
Aram Simonyan made a visit to the Secondary School # 19 after Nikol Aghbalyan. The visit was on the occasion of the Day of Native Language, celebrated on February 20.
In the framework of German Bundestag program “International Parliamentary Scholarship 2010” three graduates of Armenian HEI will have the opportunity to participate in the program.
