As part of the cooperation between Yerevan State University and the University of Vienna, the "Biodiversity of Fungi in Armenia: Advancing Towards COP17" Autumn School and Intensive Workshop will be held in the Lori and Tavush Provinces of Armenia on October 12–16, 2026.
The Autumn School will provide Armenian and Austrian students with an opportunity to:
participate in fieldwork and fungal collection,
work with collected specimens and take part in their identification,
learn about and apply DNA barcoding methods in practice,
attend professional lectures and practical sessions,
work with lecturers and specialists from Armenia and Austria,
discuss current issues related to the study and conservation of fungal biodiversity in Armenia in the lead-up to COP17.

The Autumn School is organized at the initiative of the Chair of Botany and Mycology at the YSU Faculty of Biology and the Department of Botany and Biodiversity Research at the University of Vienna as part of the "Biodiversity Assessment and DNA Barcoding of Mycorrhizal and Xylotrophic Fungi in Forested Regions of Armenia" project (APPEAR Academic Project 373).
