Sergey Zilitinkevich was an exceptional and innovative scientist whose primary research area focused on boundary-layer dynamics and turbulence. He applied his expertise broadly across numerous scientific disciplines. The organizations listed below have jointly decided to establish the Sergey Zilitinkevich Memorial Award:
- World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
- European Meteorological Society (EMS)
- Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC)
- Institute for Atmospheric and Earth system Research (INAR)
- Finnish Network for Atmospheric Sciences
- Finnish Geophysical Society
- Finnish Foundation for Aerosol Research
This international annual award is presented to a scientist who has made a significant contribution to boundary-layer studies in atmospheric and ocean sciences.
Call for Nominations
Nominations for the award are openly selected within international research networks, particularly those related to Zilitinkevich's activities.
The nomination package must include:
Nomination letter
2-5 Supporting letters
few supporting letters with several signatures are preferred
nominations letters describing contribution and impact would be preferred
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
including a one page summary
including supervision and education activities
