Within the framework of the collaboration between the YSU Alumni and Career Center and the Union of Stone Manufacturers, a seminar-discussion was organized at the YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology.
During the professional meeting arranged by the Union of Stone Manufacturers for the students of the YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology, a presentation titled "Socio-Economic and Environmental Impacts of the Non-Metallic Minerals Industry" was delivered.
Addressing the key developments and challenges in the field, the discussion highlighted the following topics:
- the contribution of the non-metallic mining industry to the economy of Armenia,
- the importance of the industry for the development of regional communities and the creation of jobs,
- effective tools for mitigating environmental risks,
- international standards of responsible mining and the current indicators in Armenia,
- the importance of cooperation with local communities and models for social investment.
Organized in an interactive format, the meeting allowed students to raise numerous questions related to the manufacturing and marketing of stone materials.
The discussion provided students with an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the sector, its regulatory framework, and the necessity of sustainable and responsible production practices.
