1. Admission criteria/requirements
For those with a Bachelor’s degree in the same specialty, admission is held without exams,
and the applicants with related specialties pass the final exam for the Bachelor’s degree.
2. Programme Objectives
· to provide students with deep and fundamental knowledge of comparative literature
following their future professional activities,
to encourage students to combine theoretical knowledge about literature and
literature with practical abilities,
· to enable students to carry out independent research in literary studies, and to be
able to orient and evaluate literary realities and works.
3. Educational outcomes of the programme

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

    1. to present the modern points of view and principles of Western European and American literary studies, to classify the current directions,
    2. to present the modern litetrary points and principles of Western European and American literary studies,
    3. to describe the main content of the development of literary-aesthetic thought, to understand the historical values and patterns of literary-aesthetic systems,
    4. to describe the main concepts of the history and theory of Western European and American literature, to justify the relations of Western European and American literature with history, philosophy, linguistics, psychology, religion, mythology, and other humanistic sciences and arts,
    5. to define the place of literary studies in the paradigm of modern culture,
    6. to reproduce the country's social-political, historical-cultural development features and national identity issues in the context of national literature.
    1. to evaluate literary works and realities from the point of view of modern literary thought,
    2. to practically carry out literary studies and research, as well as literary debates and discussions,
    3. to compare Western European and American literary realities and works, to reveal their commonalities and abilities,
    4. to analyze the theoretical and literary concepts of individual authors,
    5. to analyze literary plots and character systems in the context of various psychological theories,
    6. to analyze literary texts taking into account their ethnicity and time,
    7. to classify and separate historical periods,
    8. to classify and separate literary directions, currents, and genres,
    1. to use various information sources (Internet resources, electronic libraries, literary websites, etc.),
    2. to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice,
    3. to critically analyze, combine and coordinate professional information to propose new research objectives and select ways and means of their implementation.
4. Assessment methods
The following course evaluations are planned:
1. Course with final assessment,
2. Course without final assessment,
3. Course without evaluation of mid-term exams,
4. Check-up.
5. Graduates future career opportunities
Graduates of the "Foreign Literature" Master's program can build careers in all sectors of
RA higher education and economy, where specialists in foreign literature with knowledge of
a foreign language are required, as lecturers, research scientists, teachers, and scientific
project managers.
Possible workplaces are philological faculties of various universities, research institutes,
Matenadaran, museums, publishing houses, high schools, and various international
institutions.
6. Resources and forms to support learning
To implement the program, various learning resources are available for students (rich
professional literature, various electronic, Internet, and audio-visual resources). For the
successful implementation of the program, innovative, communicative, and interactive
methods of teaching and learning are important.
7. Educational standards or programme benchmarks used for programme development
The subject is mainly taught in the philological faculties of universities of the republic, partly
also in public high schools. The program is unique in the republic and can create wider
opportunities for graduate students to acquire and implement knowledge and experience in
foreign literature and literary studies in modern conditions.
The requirements of the international program orientations submitted to similar Master's
programs are:
· determination of specific learning goals,
· defining the content of subject programs,
. selection and creation of educational materials,
· creation and implementation of a teaching/learning program,
· application of appropriate methods for teaching/learning,
· evaluation of knowledge, verification, assessment,
The Master's degree program in the same specialty of
Lomonosov Moscow State University was also considered while developing the program.
8. Requirements for the academic staff

Teaching/Pedagogical.
· the skill of creating a study-methodical program of the course,
· the ability to effectively manage the audience,
· mastery and application of the latest educational technologies,
· ability to use interactive teaching methods,
. adoption of cooperative learning principles,
· ability to combine and deliver theoretical and practical skills.

· ability to carry out theoretical and empirical research work,
· the ability to use print and online scientific sources,
· the ability to analyze the content of scientific speech,
· mastery of linguistic and stylistic features of scientific texts and the ability to analyze
them,
· ability to edit and manage scientific works.
Communication
· the ability to communicate with the audience,
· Collaborative and participatory, student-centered communication skills.
ICT application
basic computer skills (fluency in MS Office package: Word, Excel, Power-Point),
· the ability to use social platforms,
· management of online groups,
· skill in using digital technologies.
Other abilities
. knowledge of professional ethics and legal norms in the field of communications,
· ability to estimate the necessary resources and implement projects effectively,
· ability to plan and manage time.
Professional abilities
· ability to conduct scientific studies in the field of German philology,
. knowledge of related professions (psychology, language psychology, intercultural
communication, translation, etc.),
· the ability to master information technologies and provide them,
· the ability to present the foundations of modern theories of linguistics and communication,
· professional fact analysis and ability to conclude,
General requirements:
Scientific degree
. A scientific degree and/or rank in the field of humanities and social sciences, or, in some
cases, a Master's degree in a given specialty,
· availability of at least 3 scientific and/or methodological publications in the last 3 years.
9. Additional information about the programme
During studies, experts from abroad will be regularly invited to hold lectures, scientific-
methodical seminars, and discussions.
