1. Admission criteria/requirements
The admission of applicants is carried out in accordance with the "Regulation of admission to RA state and non-state higher educational institutions (according to the Bachelor's educational program)" approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
2. Programme Objectives
· to help students form and develop theoretical knowledge of the main professional language - Persian, as well as Iranian and non-Iranian languages, Iran's history, literature, geography, ethnoreligious composition, ethnography, dialectology, modern political developments, Shia Islam,
· to prepare a specialist in a broad sense, who can work in the given profession, as well as in related professional fields.

3. Educational outcomes of the programme
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- To define all the stages of the history of the Persian language according to their phonetic, grammatical, and lexical features.
- To know the subject of study of the introduction of literary studies, to present the features of the history of world literature.
- Elucidate the political relations between Iran and neighboring countries according to the classification and analysis of cooperative and conflicting factors forming them.
- To present the ethnic-religious composition and linguistic map of modern Iran, the historical and modern zones of Turkish-Iranian linguistic interactions.
- To know the geographical and historical-cultural features of Iran, and the problems of Iranian-speaking peoples in the context of political history and current processes.
- To present various manifestations of Iranian culture, art, and religions according to ethnic and regional characteristics.
- To recognize the place of any Iranian language and dialect in the system of Iranian languages, phonetic, morphological, and lexical features of the studied Iranian language or languages.
- To define the terms "Iranian source studies" and "Iranian manuscripts" as scientific terms according to their study subjects and problems.
- To distinguish between literary and spoken features of the modern Persian language.
- To evaluate the source value of the written monuments deposited in old, middle, and new Iranian languages.
- To distinguish the peculiarities of Iranian languages (Kurdish, Tatish, Afghani), interpret the phonetic, grammatical, and lexical composition of at least one non-Iranian language (Arabic, Turkish).
- To evaluate the main stages of the history and history of literature of the country under study, by dividing the old, middle, new, and modern periods.
- To distinguish and analyze the genealogy of Kurds and Talish, the formation of Kurdish and Talish political thought, and Armenian-Kurdish, Armenian-Talish linguistic, cultural, and political relations.
- To apply modern information technologies in different fields of Iranian studies.
- To analyze the influence of the ethnoreligious environment in the formation of Iranian religions, in the context of examining the legacy of Iranian religions and their influence on the cultural and religious characteristics of the Middle East;
- To analyze the conflicting and pro-cooperative factors affecting Iran's relations with the countries of the region, in the methodological context of predicting possible developments;
- To formulate and solve professional problems, and apply the received information to perform scientific work;
- To carry out research and analysis of sources, current cultural and historical-political issues in a professional language.
- To prepare scientific reports, conduct scientific debates, provide professional advice, and perform teamwork.
- To communicate orally and in writing with various circles of the professional and profession-related public.
4. Assessment methods
The assessment is carried out according to the 2022 "Regulation of the Organization of the Educational Process" at YSU.
Based on the workload of the courses provided by the oral educational curriculum, mode of study, and teaching method, as well as taking into account the importance of the course in the formation of the student's professional knowledge and abilities, the courses are divided into four groups according to the evaluation form:
· with the final assessment,
· without final assessment,
· without assessment of mid-term exams,
· check-ups.
The effective grade/unit of the course (educational module) is calculated as the sum of the points earned by individual assessment components: mid-term exam, current inspection, independent work, participation, and final exam. The maximum effective evaluation of one module is 20 points, and the minimum positive evaluation threshold is 10 points.
The modules of the general educational building block, including the internships, are assessed with testing. The final work is evaluated on a scale of 20 points.

5. Graduates future career opportunities
Students of the Chair of Iranian Studies become specialists who meet the requirements of the local and international market and have the opportunity to work in both the public and private sectors. Based on the demand for qualified professionals in the RA private and public sectors, graduates of the YSU "Iranian Studies" Undergraduate program can successfully use their professional skills in the staff of the RA President, the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments and other ministries, the RA National Security Service, as well as in the information-analytical and external relations departments of state and non-state organizations and media, conducting political science, economic and cultural research, as well as in private companies engaged in tourism, export and import.
Some of the graduates have the opportunity to carry out scientific and educational activities in such important scientific centers of RA as the National Academy of Sciences, Matenadaran named after M. Mashtots, Yerevan State University, and other state and private universities, and research institutes.

The Chair provides printed, electronic, internet, and audio-visual materials to support learning. The Chair is equipped with electronic whiteboards, computers, projectors, and recorders as well.

9. Additional information about the programme
For several years, the RA Ministry of Defense has been ordering the training of specialists through the Iranian studies program of YSU, funding 1-3 students every year.
