On October 13 of this year, French-Armenian philosopher Zhirayr Malkhasyan delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology.
The topic of the lecture was "The Debate on Humanism in the French Intellectual Environment." The speaker presented the origin of the idea of humanism and its three main interpretations, tracing how these have been connected to practical changes. Particularly noteworthy was the part of the lecture addressing the post-World War II debate found in the writings of Jean-Paul Sartre, Martin Heidegger, Claude Lévi-Strauss, and Michel Foucault.
Students raised questions that helped to reveal the complexity and significance of the topic in contemporary times.
