Admission Requirements

Admission to the full-time Bachelor’s programme is conducted in accordance with the relevant procedure approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia. Applicants are required to take entrance examinations in the following subjects all in written form: Armenian Language and Literature, a Foreign Language, or Biology.

Programme Objective

The programme aims to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of fundamental and applied areas of psychology relevant to their future professional practice; foster critical thinking and the ability to integrate and evaluate theory and practice; equip students with effective written and oral communication skills; and encourage independent study and practice-based learning.

Advantages

Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to։ describe the fundamental methodological principles and contemporary and foundational theories of psychology, as well as present the concepts, approaches, and frameworks associated with them; identify the practical significance of these theories and concepts across different areas of social life; explain key psychological issues, including the patterns, mechanisms, and characteristics of human psychological development, as well as normal and pathological manifestations of psychological functioning; identify the principal methods for designing psychological research, collecting data, and analyzing and interpreting findings, while distinguishing their applications, potential, and limitations; present psychological facts and patterns associated with fundamental and applied areas of psychology and explain their role and significance in the lives of individuals and society; identify the principal ethical principles governing the professional practice of psychologists and explain their significance and the importance of adhering to them; identify the symptoms and classification systems of mental disorders, including DSM-5 and ICD-11.

Graduates will acquire practical professional competencies and will be able to: apply the principal methods of psychological research appropriately; analyze and interpret research findings in order to address professional, academic, and workplace-related challenges; apply psychodiagnostic methods; draw well-founded conclusions through professional analysis; distinguish and interpret psychological phenomena and psychological issues arising in different areas of human life and activity; undertake appropriate actions aimed at addressing identified psychological issues; integrate different approaches to psychological practice while demonstrating creativity; develop professional solutions through engagement in activities that contribute to the public good; organize their professional and/or academic activities in accordance with the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired through the programme.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Psychology programme will be equipped to engage in independent professional practice in the areas of psychological assessment, psychological support, healthcare, professional activity, social care, and education. Graduates may work in care and protection centres as specialists providing social care and psychological support; in primary and secondary schools as psychologists providing psychological assessment, developmental, corrective, and support services; and in organizations as psychologists working with personnel.

Under the supervision of an experienced psychologist, graduates may also work in psychological service centres as specialists providing psychological assessment and support. Graduates may continue their studies in Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of Yerevan State University and subsequently pursue doctoral studies.
