From November 18 to 20, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations at Yerevan State University, PhD in History, Associate Professor Tigran Yepremyan, participated in an international conference in Beijing organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on conceptual and practical issues related to high-quality development.
During the conference, Tigran Yepremyan delivered a thematic presentation centered on the possibilities for complementarity and alignment between regional development programs of China and Armenia, as well as the foundations for a new quality of cooperation between the two countries. The dean outlined strategic approaches that could facilitate the effective integration of these programs, emphasizing the importance of mutually beneficial interaction in economic, infrastructural, academic, and cultural spheres.
In his speech, Professor Yepremyan addressed the profound changes taking place in the international system, analyzing the logic of global order restructuring, mechanisms for maintaining harmony and balance between states, urgent issues of international security, and emerging conceptual discussions around the model of a "good life". He noted that China's global initiatives can be seen not only as economic projects but also as a recently formed platform for international stability and cooperation.
Within the framework of the conference, the dean held a series of meetings and individual discussions with prominent Chinese scholars as well as partners from various countries. The parties explored opportunities for joint research, academic programs, scientific exchanges, and the organization of collaborative conferences and publications, presenting partners with the YSU Journal of International Affairs. These discussions resulted in several key agreements aimed at deepening Armenia–China academic and research cooperation.
International platforms of this kind are particularly important not only for the exchange of expertise but also for strengthening mutual trust and partnerships between countries. Armenia and China possess significant potential for long-term and forward-looking cooperation, the development of which could contribute to regional stability as well as to finding solutions in an unstable international environment.
The discussion of Armenia–China relations and regional partnership issues will continue on November 25 at Yerevan State University during the international conference titled "Armenia–China Strategic Partnership: Contexts and Prospects for Development".
