Exploring the world of biology: BioExpo-2026 held at YSU
Yerevan State University hosted BioExpo-2026 for the sixth consecutive year, bringing together representatives of educational and research institutions, organizations working in the field of biology and aspiring professionals. The event aimed to showcase educational and research opportunities in biology and foster professional connections among the university, employers and students.
This year's exhibition, jointly organized by the YSU Faculty of Biology, its Student Council and Student Scientific Society, also welcomed new participating organizations representing various areas of professional work in biology-related fields.
Another aim of BioExpo was to help school students explore potential career paths. During the exhibition, chairs within the YSU Faculty of Biology presented their activities, academic programs and research areas. School students had an opportunity to learn about different branches of biology and career opportunities in each.
For the faculty's students and graduates, the exhibition also provides an opportunity to learn about career paths in biology, labor market demands and employers' expectations. Biology professionals can work in research centers, diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology and environmental organizations, as well as in food safety and related fields.
Representatives of clinical diagnostic laboratories, environmental and food industry organizations, biotechnology companies and other organizations in the field participated in the exhibition with their own stands. Visitors could speak with them directly, learn about their work and explore opportunities available in the sector.
Direct contact with employers helped students better understand labor market demands and professional development opportunities. Such meetings could also lay the groundwork for further cooperation between the university and organizations in the field, including arranging internships for students and expanding employment opportunities.
BioExpo has become one of the YSU Faculty of Biology's regular initiatives. The expanding range of participants allows the exhibition to showcase more branches of biology and the career prospects they offer.
Now in its sixth consecutive year, BioExpo continues to connect biology education with scientific research and professional practice. It helps school students make career choices, university students understand the field's requirements and development opportunities, and employers meet future professionals. In doing so, the exhibition facilitates an environment where knowledge is complemented by practical experience and educational and research potential translates into professional development opportunities.
Ahead of COP17, YSU is emphasizing the importance of science and collaboration in biodiversity conservation. BioExpo-2026 also reflects these priorities, bringing together education, innovation and initiatives aimed at protecting nature.
