YSU team is the winner of moot competition held in Tbilisi

10 teams from Germany, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan participated in the pre-moot held in Georgia on February 14-18. Armenia was represented by the teams of Yerevan State University, French University in Armenia and American University in Armenia.

The YSU team included Anahit Aloyan, Tamara Ghazaryan, Erik Manukyan and Yurik Yolyan, students from the Faculty of Law. Due to their dedication, hard work and teamwork, the name of Yerevan State University was also announced on this international platform. Davit Gharibyan and Mane Markosyan, postgraduate students from the YSU Chair of Civil Law, were the coaches of the team.

YSU team successfully beat the teams of Tbilisi State University, Free University of Tbilisi, University of Passau (Germany) and Baku State University in the moot competition.

Anahit Aloyan, a representative of the YSU team, student from the Faculty of Law, won two special nominations, receiving the "Best Foreign Speaker" award from the Georgian Association of Arbitrators and the special award "Excellence, Dedication, Enthusiasm and Diligence" from the Georgian "SunBreath Corp. Legal Services" law firm.

The pre-moot was organized as part of the cooperation between the Arbitration Initiative Georgia and the Commercial Law Development Program (a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce). The latter will also provide a special scholarship to the YSU team for its unprecedented results.

As a reminder, this stage will be followed by the moot with the participation of teams from international universities, which will take place in Vienna on March 22-28. About 400 universities, 4000 students and about 2000 arbitrators will participate in the moot.

Thanks to the results recorded by the YSU team, this year the Commercial Law Development Program together with the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia (AMCA) will co-finance the participation of the YSU team in Vienna.

Moot competitions are aimed at contributing to the development of arbitration in a given country through the organization of moot courts in different countries.
