Student
One of Armenia's top students shares her formula for success
"I was overwhelmed with excitement… I was very happy because it's rewarding to see your work pay off," says Ani Tadevosyan, a 2nd-year student in the "Armenian Literature" master's program at the Faculty of Armenian Philology, Yerevan State University. Ani was named a winner in the 2025 competition for merit-based scholarships awarded to the top-performing students of Armenia's higher education programs, placing second in the field of Armenian studies.
When asked what helped her win the competition, YSU student Ani Tadevosyan highlighted her achievements in the field of Armenian studies—professional publications, victories in academic olympiads, high academic performance, and active civic engagement.
Love for Literature as a Guide in the Professional Field
From 2020 to 2024, Ani studied in the "Armenian Language and Literature" bachelor's program at the YSU Faculty of Armenian Philology. Her deep interest in and love for her field motivated her to continue her education in literary studies.
Two factors played a decisive role in her choice of profession. Ani's great-grandmother was a philologist, and the library she left behind, along with the inherited love for reading, language, and literature, had a significant influence on the formation of Ani's interests. At the same time, her Armenian language and literature teacher—also a graduate of the YSU Faculty of Armenian Philology—played an important role in Ani's professional orientation and became a source of inspiration for her.
"Even before making a final choice of profession, back in my school years, one thing was clear to me—I wanted to study specifically at Yerevan State University, because the country's leading university has always stood out to me for the quality of its education. This is evidenced not only by the current level of education provided by the university, but also by its history. YSU has given me not only higher education, but has also taught me to love and value my profession even more, to accept it as a core value. I certainly consider myself a happy student, honored to study at a faculty where the best and most experienced specialists in the field teach—people from whom one can learn endlessly," the YSU student says.
Ani emphasizes the importance of hard work, constantly seeking opportunities for professional growth, and the desire to learn something new. She notes that as a student, she has always valued not only education, but also active participation in student life. From her first year, she joined the YSU Student Council and the Student Scientific Society, headed the Faculty Student Council, and was also a member of the YSU Academic Council.
Research Interests and Thematic Focus
"Although my master's thesis focuses on the modern period of Armenian literature, I am also interested in authors of the modern Armenian literary period, issues of literary criticism and literary theory. I often conduct research using the comparative method, trying to find parallels between the works of different authors, as well as between Armenian and world literature. The psychoanalytic method also occupies a special place in my work," Ani emphasizes.
Starting from her second year of the bachelor's program, she successfully combined her studies with work and social engagement, doing all of this with love, interest, and great enthusiasm.
Ani will soon complete her master's studies, but she emphasizes that her connection with Yerevan State University will not end there. She clearly envisions her future in the field of science and is now steadily moving in that direction.
The Path of Science and New Discoveries
Speaking about the key prerequisites for success in the field of Armenian studies, the YSU student highlights love for the profession and its appreciation not only in words, but also in deeds. In their view, literary studies offer broad prospects when a specialist, in addition to their native language, is proficient in foreign languages.
"For me, YSU lecturers are an inexhaustible source of professional inspiration. I overcome difficulties because I have faith, strong willpower, and people who love, inspire, and support me, to whom I am forever grateful," the outstanding student concludes.
