YSU to launch new "Fundamentals of R Programming Language" course
Initiated by the YSU Business Incubator, the course "Fundamentals of R Programming Language" is set to launch soon. It will equip participants with the skills necessary to apply data-driven analytical approaches in business projects.
The course will commence on March 3 and will be conducted in person over six sessions, held every Tuesday from 19։00 to 21։00.
The course will be delivered by Lusine Zilfimyan, researcher and lecturer of the "Data Science in Business" master's program at the YSU Chair of Mathematical Modeling in Economics. Her academic interests include behavioral economics, human-computer interaction, and data analysis.
Course Content
The "Fundamentals of R Programming Language" course is designed to provide participants with foundational knowledge of the R programming language. Throughout the course, participants will become familiar with the R environment and RStudio, data types and objects, and will acquire essential programming constructs such as conditional statements, loops, and functions. They will also learn how to work with data, including data import, cleaning, transformation, and visualization.
Practical sessions will incorporate several R libraries, including dplyr, stringr, and ggplot2.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to conduct data analysis and apply statistical methods using the R programming language.
Participation Requirements
To participate in the course, applicants should have basic computer literacy, analytical thinking skills, and a general understanding of working with data. An educational or professional background in economics, business, psychology, social sciences, or information technology is desirable but not mandatory.

The course fee is 40,000 AMD. The course is offered free of charge to university members.
