I want YSU always to be the winner among all universities — Arthur Abraham
Professional boxer Arthur Abraham shared his dream for the future of Yerevan State University during the YSU Alumni Forum, writing as part of the university's YSU Wall of Ideas initiative: "I want YSU always to be the winner among all universities."
Arthur Abraham, who graduated from the YSU Faculty of Law years ago, joined the forum alongside fellow alumni. Although he built his professional career in elite sports, he emphasized that higher education and the values developed during his years at YSU played an important role in his life and in shaping his worldview.
"As a university alumnus, I am happy to once again be at my alma mater. Although my professional path is connected with sports, I have always valued education. Even though I am an athlete, I still love learning," he said, noting that he had received the invitation to attend the forum from his university friends.
"Returning to YSU is a special and warm feeling for me," Abraham said, reflecting on his student years, the importance of education, and the values developed at YSU that have accompanied him throughout his life and professional journey.
According to Abraham, the university environment was always distinguished by warmth, mutual respect and strong human relationships.
"I had good friends and good professors. We communicated very warmly with everyone. When you come to the university, you find yourself in a completely different environment, and that is very pleasant," he said.
He stressed that quality education and developed thinking are important not only in professional life, but also in sports. In his view, flexible thinking helps people make decisions faster both in the ring and in everyday life.
"When the mind is flexible, you are also able to make decisions faster in the ring. Education has helped me both in sports and in everyday life," he said.
Recalling his student years, Abraham spoke warmly about the time spent with friends, emphasizing that despite limited opportunities, his generation enjoyed a memorable and close-knit student life.
Addressing young people, the boxer highlighted the importance of knowledge and continuous education, noting that success requires consistent learning and the development of flexible thinking.
He added that knowledge not only facilitates professional growth, but also helps people overcome difficulties encountered in life.
