"HE IS IN THE ENVIRONMENT WHERE HE LIVED AND WORKED." THE OPENING CEREMONY OF YERVAND TER-MINASYAN'S BUST TOOK PLACE

Yervand Ter-Minasyan's role at Yerevan State University is invaluable. He was one of the founding professors of YSU, who dedicated his life and potential to the creation and development of the university. The professor's merit is great both in the field of Armenian lexicography (he is the co-author of the two-volume and four-volume Russian-Armenian dictionaries, as well as the four-volume explanatory dictionary of the Modern Armenian language), as well as in laying the foundations for Assyrian studies at YSU.

YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, welcoming and congratulating the attendees on this important event, told about Yervand Ter-Minasyan’s life and scientific activity, his great contribution to the mother university, and the history of the Armenian Church.

The rector emphasized that the professor was one of the prominent individuals of the Armenian philological and scientific mind, and it was a great honor to be present at the opening ceremony of his bust.

Bishop Gevorg Saroyan, leader of Masyatsotn Diocese, whose Ph.D. thesis was on the literary heritage of Yervand Ter-Minasyan, also made a speech of welcome. The bishop emphasized that this event was awaited especially by the scientific community.

"We have before us a person with a rich biography, whose creative path has always served as a source of inspiration in the education and upbringing of generations. He is one of those devotees whose consistent efforts made the dream of having a higher educational institution in his homeland finally come true. He stands at the beginning of the foundation of Yerevan State University", said G. Saroyan then read a part of his memoirs.

The bishop described Yervand Ter-Minasyan as an outstanding and skilled Armenologist, a scholar archimandrite of the Armenian Church, and a great patriot.

The professor's relatives and family members were also present at the opening ceremony of Yervand Ter-Minasyan's bust. His granddaughter, Anush Ter-Minasyan, thanked for the initiative and said, "I am very excited not only because the bust of my grandfather is being unveiled, but also because we are present in the process of establishing historical justice. I can confidently say that now he is back in the environment where he lived and worked. The busts of the people we see here in the foyer of Yerevan State University are his friends: Gevorg Jahukyan, Hrachya Acharyan, Eduard Aghayan, Garegin Hovsepyan, Nikol Aghbalyan, and others."

Yerevan State University always remembers the people who have contributed to the formation, prosperity, and development of the university, and keeps their memory alive through various events.
