THE SUBJECT OF THE CONFERENCE WAS THE LITERARY, LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL LIFE OF THE FIRST REPUBLIC
The conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Armenian Republic and the 90th anniversary of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Union was held today at YSU Academic Council session hall.
The axis of today’s reports and discussions at the conference titled “Educational and Cultural Life in the First Republic of Armenia” was the literary, linguistic and cultural life of the First Republic.
The speakers touched upon such prominent figures of the state’s cultural and educational life as Nikol Aghbalyan, Hovhannes Tumanyan, Kostan Zaryan and others were.
Narine Dilbaryan, lecturer at YSU Faculty of Armenian Philology, spoke about Nikol Aghbalyan’s linguistic and political views. She presented the main ideas of this figure, which had a unique influence on the formation of the state, the organization of spiritual and cultural life, the foundation of Armenian educational institutions and the development of new educational programs.
“His programs on establishing multilevel national schools in Armenia as well as abroad have proven their viability today in the modern world. The great patriot’s dream was to return the Armenian nation to its historical homeland and make it a progressive, advanced and knowledge-based nation. Nikol Aghbalyan was convinced that justified education based on the native language could create a modern nation able to withstand world competition,” - the speaker said.
The conference also touched upon the prerequisites for the establishment of the First State Theater of the First Republic of Armenia.
After the reports, there was an active discussion of thematic materials among the participants of the conference, simultaneously making comparisons with the current problems and current social and political situations.
