On April 8, Yerevan hosted the Doing Digital Forum 2026 under the theme "Bridging Platforms & Economies". The forum is one of the region's key events in digital economy and financial technology, bringing together international experts, representatives of technology companies, leaders of governmental institutions, and industry professionals.
The forum aims to create new platforms for digital collaboration and build bridges between technological platforms, economies, and regions. Discussions during the forum focused on the development of digital finance, new payment infrastructures, open finance systems, digital identity solutions, and the application of artificial intelligence in business and software development.
Around 30 international and local speakers took part, including representatives from Amazon Web Services, the vice president of Ant International, a Visa representative, and other global experts in finance and technology. Leaders from the Central Bank of Armenia and other government officials also addressed the country's digital development initiatives.
Yerevan State University served as the forum's informational partner. Through this collaboration, students were given the opportunity to participate in the international event, explore the emerging trends in the field, and expand their professional knowledge.
Students from the YSU Information Technologies Educational and Research Center (ITERC) participated in the forum as part of this collaboration. Kristine Vasilyan, a second-year student in the ITERC's "Information Systems Development" master's program, shared her impressions: "During the Doing Digital Forum 2026, several interesting topics were discussed, including the application and development of digital technologies in finance, the future of banking systems, new payment mechanisms, and the use of artificial intelligence in programming and business. What was particularly interesting was how new technologies and AI are transforming software development. Events like this are invaluable for students, as they provide insight into current technologies and their potential impact on future careers. We also had the opportunity to meet and engage in meaningful discussions with some of the participants."
The Doing Digital Forum serves as an important platform for students and young professionals to gain exposure to international expertise, understand industry developments, and establish professional networks. ITER emphasizes the importance of student participation in such initiatives and encourages their active engagement in digital and technological development.
