As part of the YSU Alumni Forum, an exhibition dedicated to the 106th anniversary of Yerevan State University will be held on the first floor of the university’s Central Building.
The Place
Yerevan State University is not just a physical space. It is a place shaped over the years through the continuous efforts of many, filled with memories of success, inspiration, hard work, learning, friendship, love — but also of failure, disagreement, sorrow, and disappointment. Every building, auditorium, hall, bench, and alley on campus is woven with threads of memory, binding together generations of alumni.
The Tradition
The university was founded in challenging and complex times — as an act of intellectual sovereignty, driven by the need for a venue of independent intellectual growth. It was built by people who understood the significance of that intellectual grounding. Tradition is the conscious repetition of what truly matters. For decades, people entering the university have redefined what is important and have tried to carry forward the work of its founders.
The Mission
To study and to work, to generate ideas and to share knowledge — but most importantly, to make the effort to understand and comprehend: in auditoriums, laboratories, offices, libraries, and museums. For 106 years, from early morning until late evening, individuals and groups at the university have been formulating questions and seeking their answers.
The People
The students, lecturers, researchers, and education professionals — these are the true "owners" of the university. Those who have spent a significant part of their lives here have shared the full spectrum of human emotion with this institution. They became scholars, educators, professionals, and citizens — in part because they had been here. No matter their role, everyone who has entered the university has felt excitement, pride, and responsibility, recognizing the enduring tradition of work.
Life
University life isn’t only about studying and research. If your day and your life unfold here, then your friendships, passions, and interests must also find their place in this space. Sports, culture, volunteering, and all forms of student engagement become part of university life — enriching daily routines, deepening traditions, adding meaning to the work, and connecting people.
End?
Final exams, graduation paper defenses, and commencement ceremonies might suggest that "end" is the only word that can follow the "circle". But in reality, completing university offers each student the chance to become part of a wider university community — to continue seeing themselves as a part of the university circle.
Welcome back…
