Join the Biodiversity Law & Governance Legal Specialisation Course 2026, an intensive in-person professional training programme taking place during CBD COP17 in Yerevan, Armenia.
Convened by the Biodiversity Law and Governance Initiative (BLGI) and the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL) with Yerevan State University and international partners, the course will bring together lawyers, policymakers, researchers, practitioners and emerging professionals for practical training on biodiversity law and governance.
The course will focus on:
The CBD, its Protocols and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, including Target 3, protected areas and OECMs;
Biodiversity, sustainable development and finance, including legal and institutional approaches to implementation and resource mobilisation; and
The wider biodiversity treaty system, including CITES, CMS, BBNJ, Ramsar and UNCCD.
Sessions will combine expert teaching with practical hypothetical problems, group discussion and reporting back, helping participants apply legal and governance approaches to real implementation challenges.
