In December 2026, the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University is organizing an international scientific conference titled “Key Issues in the Ancient and Early History of Armenia and Historical Demography.”

The aim of the conference is to discuss various fundamental issues of the ancient and early periods of Armenian history, as well as historical demography, in light of the latest research findings.

The conference proceedings are planned to be organized around the following main directions:

• Ancient and early periods of Armenian history

• Issues in the ancient and early history of the Caucasian and Near Eastern regions

• Theoretical and methodological problems of historical demography

• Archaeology and fundamental issues of regional history

• Ethnology / cultural anthropology and regional studies

• Key issues in the history of ancient and medieval Armenian art and culture

Please submit abstracts of presentations (up to 500 words) by October 15, 2026, to the following email address: conferencehistory@ysu.am

Applications may be submitted in Armenian, Russian, or English. Only applications falling within the stated scope of the conference will be considered.

The Organizing Committee will notify participants regarding selected presentations by November 1, 2026. The conference abstracts will be published prior to the conference.

Presentations selected by the Organizing Committee will be published as a special issue of the “History and Culture” journal.
