ON APPROVING THE WORK ORDER OF THE QUALITY ASSURANCE AND METHODOLOGICAL COMMISSION OF AN ACADEMIC UNIT OF THE “YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY” FOUNDATION AND RECOGNISING AS NULL AND VOID THE “REGULATION ON THE METHODOLOGICAL COUNCIL OF YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY” AND THE “REGULATION ON THE STANDING COMMISSION ON QUALITY ASSURANCE OF THE FACULTY ACADEMIC COUNCIL OF YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY” ADOPTED ON 30 MARCH, 2017
Guided by Sub-clauses 3-4 of Clause 49 of the Charter of the “Yerevan State University” Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “YSU”) and Sub-clauses 3-4 of Clause 4 of the Work Order of the YSU Academic Council, the YSU Academic Council resolves:
1. To approve the “Work Order of the Quality Assurance and Methodological Commission of an Academic Unit of the ‘Yerevan State University’ Foundation,” in accordance with the Annex.
2. To recognise as null and void the “Regulation on the Methodological Council of the Faculty of Yerevan State University” and the “Regulation on the Standing Commission on Quality Assurance of the Faculty Academic Council of Yerevan State University,” approved by the YSU Academic Council on 30 March 2017.
3. This Decision shall enter into force upon publication.

Work Order
of the Quality Assurance and Methodological Commission of an Academic Unit of the “Yerevan State University” Foundation
I. GENERAL PROVISIONS
1. The Quality Assurance and Methodological Commission (hereinafter referred to as “the Commission”) of an academic unit (faculty, institute, or centre) of the “Yerevan State University” Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “YSU”) is a standing commission that exercises the functions prescribed by the YSU Charter, the Regulation of the academic unit, YSU internal legal acts, and this Work Order.
2. The objective of the Commission is to organise, implement, and facilitate internal quality assurance processes within the academic unit, to provide advisory support, to exercise oversight of internal quality assurance processes, and to submit recommendations on the educational process to the head of the academic unit and the teaching staff.
3. The Commission shall conduct its activities in accordance with the YSU quality assurance policy, the procedures and guidelines for internal quality assurance.
4. The Commission shall consider matters within its competence on its own initiative or upon a proposal by the head of the academic unit, the YSU Quality Assurance Centre, or the YSU Methodological Council.
5. The Commission shall consist of four members, one of whom shall be a student.
6. Candidacy for membership of the Commission shall be proposed by the Vice-Rector for academic affairs and the Director of the Quality Assurance Centre. The candidacy of a staff member shall be discussed in advance with the head of the academic unit, and the candidacy of a student member shall be discussed with the student organisation of the academic unit.
The head of the academic unit and the heads of educational programmes shall not be included in the composition of the Commission.
The nominal composition of the Commission shall be approved by the YSU Rector for a term of three years.
II. FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMISSION
7. The functions of the Commission shall be as follows:
1) oversight of the implementation of YSU internal quality assurance standards, processes, and/or procedures within the academic unit, in cooperation with the YSU Quality Assurance Centre, the YSU Methodological Council, and the Standing Commission on Quality Assurance of the YSU Academic Council;
2) coordination of, and support for, the processes of authorisation, development, approval, ongoing monitoring, and periodic review of educational programmes of the academic unit;
3) organisation and coordination of self-assessment processes for the quality of educational programmes of the academic unit within the framework of external evaluation (audit, accreditation) procedures;
4) formation of working groups for the development of self-assessment reports prepared for the purposes of accreditation of the educational programmes of the academic unit, provision of advisory support, and participation in the work of drafting such reports;
5) informing the teaching staff of the academic unit of the regulations pertaining to the educational process;
6) exercise of other functions as may be assigned by the Regulation of the academic unit, YSU internal legal acts, and this Work Order.
III. PROCEDURE FOR ORGANISING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMISSION
8. The activities of the Commission shall be organised through sessions, which shall be convened at least once per academic semester.
9. A session of the Commission shall be deemed valid if attended by at least three members. Decisions of the Commission shall be adopted by a simple majority of votes of the members present at the session. In the event of an equal division of votes, the Chairman of the Commission shall have a casting vote.
10. In the absence of the Chairman of the Commission, the session shall be chaired by a member designated by the Chairman.
11. Sessions of the Commission shall be conducted in accordance with an agenda proposed by the Chairman and shall be recorded in minutes.
12. The Chairman of the Commission shall:
1) convene and chair sessions of the Commission;
2) coordinate the process of decision-making by the Commission;
3) invite relevant specialists and experts for the purpose of deliberating on specific matters;
4) exercise other powers as are provided for by YSU internal legal acts and this Work Order.
13. A member of the Commission shall:
1) participate in sessions and deliberations of the Commission;
2) participate in decision-making through voting;
3) exercise other powers as are assigned by YSU internal legal acts and this Work Order.
14. The Chairman of the Commission shall be allocated a workload of 40 academic hours per year for the conduct of their activities, and each member of the Commission (with the exception of the student member) shall be allocated a workload of 30 academic hours per year.
