Workshop at YSU: "Endangered Languages in Azerbaijan: The Beginning of a New Phase in State Language Policy (Since 2021)"

On June 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., the Chair of Iranian Studies at YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies will host a workshop titled "Endangered Languages in Azerbaijan: The Beginning of a New Phase in State Language Policy (Since 2021)." The event is organized within the framework of research grant 24SSAH-6B028, provided by the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
The following presentations will be delivered:
- Vardan Voskanyan – "The Issue of the Talysh Language in Azerbaijan’s Socio-Political Discourse"
- Tereza Amryan – "School Textbooks in Kurdish in Azerbaijan: A Content Analysis"
- Artyom Tonoyan – "Shifts in Azerbaijan’s State Language Policy After the 2020–2023 War: The Case of Tat Language School Textbooks"
- Hakob Avchyan – "New School Textbooks in Talysh: A Content Analysis"
A Q&A session and open discussion will follow the presentations.
