On October 14, the YSU Pedagogy and Education Development Center hosted an autumn school for its faculty members and students to support the modernization of higher education, meet new quality standards and promote the continued development of the learning environment. The event offered participants an opportunity to deepen their academic knowledge and explore international best practices.
The autumn school featured a lecture by Robert Khachatryan, Head of Quality Control at the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), an internationally recognized expert in education quality assurance, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor.
With decades of professional experience, Khachatryan's work aligns with the criteria defined by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). His significant contributions to advancing the principles of the Bologna Process over the past decade have helped improve the effectiveness of education systems, strengthen institutional accountability and ensure the compliance of educational programs at national and international levels.
His lecture, titled "Key Determinants of Quality Education: Quality Assurance and Control," offered an in-depth and systematic examination of education quality. Khachatryan explained how universities can move beyond formal indicators to achieve meaningful, measurable and competitive outcomes.
Drawing on his professional experience and real-world examples of international management practices, Khachatryan encouraged participants to examine education quality assurance challenges from broader geopolitical and institutional perspectives. His detailed, precise analyses drew an immediate response from the audience.
Participants also had an opportunity to ask questions during the lecture. The question-and-answer session featured substantive discussions, with Khachatryan providing comprehensive, insightful and practical responses grounded in his professional experience and theoretical knowledge.
The initiative once again demonstrated the Pedagogy and Education Development Center's commitment to continuously improving education quality and aligning it with international standards.
Such initiatives not only enrich the university's academic environment but also help shape a vision for the quality of education in the years ahead.
