1. Admission criteria/requirements
The admission is carried out according to the "YSU Master's degree (full-time and part-time) admission procedure".
The applicants must have:
· Bachelor's degrees in any science,
· sufficient knowledge of computer science,
· some programming experience,
· knowledge of English corresponding to at least A2 level.
Admission is based on a graded interview.
2. Programme Objectives
The program aims to provide students with:
. knowledge and skills necessary for managing information systems (knowledge of the theoretical foundations of computer science, analysis of the subject domain, decision-making),
. practical professional skills (implementation of information systems, guiding the development of new applications),
. general abilities that can be used during the graduate's career (use of various sources of information, creative application of existing knowledge, resource planning, compliance with professional ethics norms).
3. Educational outcomes of the programme

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

    1. to characterize the theoretical foundations of analysis and design of algorithms, data models, and computing systems,
    2. to cover the fundamental principles of data storage and protection,
    3. to characterize the principles of process design and implementation in distributed environments,
    4. to interpret telecommunications and Web-technologies,
    5. to clarify economic models, financial operations, and e-business,
    6. to characterize the methods of building business-oriented software systems,
    7. to interpret legal and ethical norms related to the use and construction of information systems.
    1. to choose and build efficient algorithms and data storage models,
    2. to create dynamic Web pages, participate in the creation of databases and network applications,
    3. to use various marketing strategies, and financial instruments and implement business processes,
    4. to make suggestions on increasing the efficiency of the work of the given sector,
    5. to build new applications for information systems used in a given business sector,
    6. to demonstrate high performance both as a team member and as a team leader.
    1. to use various sources of information (Internet resources, electronic libraries, scientific articles and reports);
    2. to analyze problems and estimate the resources needed to solve them,
    3. to creatively apply acquired knowledge and perceive new ones,
    4. to effectively plan resources,
    5. to prepare reports, present research results, and conduct scientific debates,
    6. to maintain the norms of professional ethics.
4. Assessment methods
Based on the workload of the courses provided by the curriculum of the educational program, the mode of study, teaching methods, and taking into account the importance of the course in the formation of the student's professional knowledge and abilities, the courses are divided into 4 groups according to the evaluation form:
1. with the final assessment,
2. without final assessment,
3. without evaluation of mid-term exams,
4. check-ups.
5. Graduates future career opportunities
Graduates of the "Information Systems Management" program can start working in enterprises operating in the IT sector, occupying the following positions:
Software manufacturing/supplier companies
. product manager,
. external requirements analyst,
. manager of the programming team.
Information technology units
. information department manager,
. information systems designer,
. internal requirements analyst,
. development team manager.
Consulting companies
. Information technology consultant
Possible workplaces are the YSU IT Educational and Research Center, the Central Bank, other state institutions using information systems, and private enterprises operating in the IT sector. The data of the last ten years prove that the graduates of the program completely work in their profession both in Armenia and abroad.
The best graduates of the program can continue their studies at YSU, National Academy of Sciences, Armenian-Russian (Slavic) University, and other scientific and educational institutions.
6. Resources and forms to support learning
The following auxiliary resources are used in the learning process:
· electronic presentations of lectures,
· classrooms equipped with modern teaching devices,
· Moodle educational process management system,
. distance learning classrooms.
7. Educational standards or programme benchmarks used for programme development
The program was developed based on the state educational standard for the specialty "Information Technologies" and corresponds to the "Information Systems" program of the Courant Institute of New York University.
8. Requirements for the academic staff
1. General Abilities
Teaching/Pedagogical
· skill in creating a course plan,
· ability to use class hours effectively,
· knowledge of interactive teaching methods, ability to use active learning techniques,
· ability to organize individual work with students.
Research
· ability to use scientific sources supporting the taught material,
· experience of research in information technologies (articles published in peer-reviewed journals/publications),
· ability to manage research.
Communication
· ability to organize professional analyses, debates, discussions, and presentations,
· ability to properly present educational material, and research results,
· knowledge of a foreign language (at least per the B1 level of English).
ICT application
· ability to use electronic educational resources. In particular, - the construction of electronic materials (presentations, assignments, etc.), - organization of exams, discussions, and debates in the learning management system environment.
Other abilities
· knowledge of professional ethics and legal norms,
· knowledge of the current state of the field,
· Ability to plan and manage time resources.
2. Professional Abilities
· knowledge of the principles of analysis and design of information systems,
· ability to use information systems,
Knowledge of modern approaches to data analysis and management.
· knowledge of modern data science paradigms,
· knowledge of telecommunications and Web-technologies,
· knowledge of the basics of managing financial flows in information systems,
· knowledge of legal and ethical norms related to the use and construction of information systems.
3. General requirements
Academic degree
· academic degree in information technologies,
· availability of at least 3 scientific and/or methodological publications in the last 5 years, as well as participation in conferences/workshops.
Pedagogical experience
· at least 5 years of experience in teaching professional courses,
· participation in local or international trainings and/or professional qualification improvement courses, practical experience during the last 5 years
· at least 5 years of work experience in information technologies.
Other requirements
· teaching portfolio: 100% online availability of teaching materials,
· the average grades obtained by the results of the student survey: at least 4.0 (for teaching professors).

9. Additional information about the programme
The "Information Systems Management" program is the result of the further development of the Master's program of the same name operating in YSU Information Technologies Educational and Research Center from 2008 to 2016. The latter was implemented in YSU in 2005 with the support of the US Agency for International Development, based on the "Information Systems" program of the Courant Institute of New York University.
