To learn about professional innovations and leading international practices, foster intercultural communication, and expand ties with the world’s top educational institutions, a delegation from YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication participated in a symposium titled "Language and Intercultural Learning" held at University College London (UCL) on July 3–4.
The delegation included Faculty Dean Gevorg Barseghyan, Faculty Deputy Dean and Head of Office Marine Yaghubyan, Head of the Chair of English for Intercultural Communication Shushanik Paronyan, Associate Professor Anush Ayunts, and lecturer Hasmik Chaloyan.
It is noteworthy that University College London ranks among the top ten universities in the world, holding the 9th position in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
Organized in collaboration with UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, the symposium served as a bridge for studying the distinctive features of the British educational system, exploring cutting-edge international practices, and assessing innovative approaches to foreign language teaching with a view to their potential implementation in Armenia’s academic and educational context.
The thematic focus of the symposium’s presentations included current methodological challenges in teaching English as a foreign language, the integration of linguistic and cultural knowledge with communication skills, and intercultural communication as an interdisciplinary field of study.
The discussions outlined potential avenues and key areas for academic collaboration.
