2. Programme Objectives
The goal of the program is to prepare specialists of English who will have comprehensive knowledge of cross-cultural communication and will be able to communicate effectively with representatives of different cultures based on the principles of cultural awareness. Graduates will be able to successfully apply English oral and written skills in various spheres of activity (academic, business, and everyday communication), as well as in computer mediated communication (advertising, content writing).
3. Educational outcomes of the programme
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- to present the fundamentals of linguacultural studies and cross-cultural communication
- to discuss the peculiarities of the grammatical, lexical, and stylistic domains of English and the communicative-functional patterns characteristic of the English language
- to comment on the historical-geographical, administrative-legal, and ethnolinguistic systems of English-speaking countries, and to compare the knowledge about Armenian and English linguacultures and cultural values
- to present the optimal ways of overcoming communication barriers that arise in the process of cross-cultural communication
- to explain the characteristic differences of English when used in different communicative situations
- to have proficiency in written English
- to demonstrate appropriate skills in understanding and responding to spoken English
- to perform written and oral translations from English to Armenian and vice versa, applying the principle of interrelationship between language and culture
- to create advertising and informative texts in English
- to communicate effectively in cross-cultural communication situations
- to apply the oral and written communication skills of the second foreign language in different communicative contexts
- to use various sources of information related to the intercultural sphere, to process and present the information
- to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice
- to perform teamwork that requires cooperative working skills
4. Assessment methods
The evaluation system consists of a multifactor procedure of regular verification and assessment of students' knowledge. It aims to organize a balanced learning process, to promote the student's independent work, and to employ evaluation as a means of continuous improvement in the learning process.The assessment includes the following components and forms:
1. Assessment of sub-sections of the course (academic module) during the semester: 2 mid-term exams
2. Check-ups of individual topics of the course (academic module) during the semester: mid-term check-ups
3. Verification and evaluation of the implementation and assimilation of knowledge planned by the program during the semester: independent work
4. Evaluation of independent and/or group research planned by the program during the semester, which replaces any of the mid-term exams: research work
5. Assessing class participation
6. Final assessment of the entire course (academic module) in the exam period: final exam

6. Resources and forms to support learning
For the implementation of the program, the educational unit has the necessary educational spaces and the necessary technical equipment: computer room, projector, electronic whiteboard, TV. There is some literature in the educational unit implementing the program, and the new educational materials (printed and electronic) will be provided by the teaching staff
7. Educational standards or programme benchmarks used for programme development
When developing the program, the descriptors required for the sixth (Bachelor's) educational level (qualification) of the RA Higher Education NQF (Decision N 714 of July 7, 2016) were taken as a basis.
The program was also implemented by taking into account the existing program orientations and standards in the given speciality of the leading European universities (in particular, the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies of the Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov, Linguistics and Cross-cultural Communication of the Universities of Groningen (Netherlands), Warwick (England), Redbud (Netherlands) taking into account the existing program orientations and standards in the given speciality of the faculties
