1. Admission criteria/requirements
Applicants with a certificate of secondary, primary, or secondary vocational education can apply for the program. The admission is carried out according to the "Regulation of admission to state and non-state higher educational institutions of the Republic of Armenia (according to the Bachelor’s degree educational program)" approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, Decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia (April 26, 2012. N 597-Ն). The applicant passes the following entrance exams: foreign language (written in German or English), Armenian language, and literature (written).
2. Programme Objectives
The program aims to:
·develop the abilities and skills of students to analyze linguistic phenomena and the ability to compare and evaluate practical knowledge with a range,
·provide comprehensive and competitive higher education in the field of German as well as English,
·train wide-profile specialists in the field of cross-cultural and interlinguistic communication and translation.
Graduates of the program will have the opportunity to work in embassies of German and English-speaking countries, international, and domestic organizations, various publishing houses, and public educational institutions and successfully solve specific professional problems.

3. Educational outcomes of the programme
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- to present the modern theories of German and English studies, their principles and concepts,
- to describe the essence of mutual relations between linguistics and language communication,
- to present the phonetic, grammatical, word-forming, stylistic peculiarities of German and English, their corresponding patterns, as well as the fundamental concepts of translation,
- to present the language culture, history, geography, politics, education, social life, customs, and value systems of German and English-speaking countries, comparing them with Armenian culture,
- to discuss the peculiarities of the phonological, lexical, and grammatical systems of the studied languages, the circumstances of their realization,
- to highlight and interpret the linguistic peculiarities characteristic of German and English,
- to carry out a descriptive analysis of all vocabulary layers of the studied languages, to explain their peculiarities in different languages,
- to identify the features of language thinking characteristic of German and English by examining the corresponding syntactic structures,
- to carry out trilingual oral and written communication and translation at the necessary level in the field of profession,
- to apply professional knowledge in different work fields and public discourses.
- to explain and interpret information and facts related to the given field to the professional and non-professional public,
- to collect, process, and analyze various data related to the professional field, to conduct relevant research,
- to build logically correct and well-argued oral and written speech in foreign and native languages,
- to use various information sources (Internet, electronic libraries, scientific articles, etc.),
- to be versatile, to participate in debates and discussions, to demonstrate high abilities to present and argue one's point of view, and to be ready to overcome everyday challenges.
4. Assessment methods
According to the courses provided by the curriculum, four types of assessment are distinguished:
1. Course with a final assessment
2. Course without a final assessment
3. Assessment course without mid-term exams
4. Check-up course.
The maximum assessment point is 20, while the minimum is 10.
18-20 points: excellent,
14-17 points: good,
10-13 points: sufficient,
0-9 points insufficient.
a) Course with a final assessment
Two mid-term exams, a mid-term check-up, and a final exam are carried out during the course. Participation is also taken into account.
The first mid-term exam is passed based on the student's written work, which is evaluated with a maximum of 4 points.
The second exam is passed based on the student's written work, which is evaluated with a maximum of 4 points.
The current test is written and oral, and is rated for a maximum of 3 points.
2 points are granted for participation.
The final exam is oral with a maximum value of 7 points.
b) Course without a final assessment
Assessment methods and criteria are:
The first mid-term exam is passed based on the student's written work, which is evaluated with a maximum of 4 points.
The second mid-term exam is conducted orally and is rated for a maximum of 4 points.
The current test is written and oral, and is worth a maximum of 8 points.
Independent work is awarded 2 points.
2 points are granted for participation.
c) Course without mid-term exams
Assessment methods and criteria are:
Two midterms, each worth 4 points, independent work - 2 points, participation - 2 points, and a final exam - 8 points are carried out during the course.

The program is designed following European Bachelor’s degree programs, taking into account, of course, local educational factors as well.
Program orientations are:

3. Methodological guidelines for the development of YSU educational programs. Yerevan, 2010.

The program was also implemented by taking into account the existing international program orientations and criteria in the field of the given profession, based on the Bachelor’s degree programs of German studies and cultural studies of universities, in particular Mannheim University, Koblenz-Landau University, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Program orientations are:

·degree and/or rank in the humanities and social sciences, or, in some cases, a Master's degree in a given field.
·availability of at least 3 scientific and/or methodological publications in the last 3 years.

9. Additional information about the programme
As a result of revising the previous program, on the recommendation of the working group, with the agreement of the Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication as well as the university management, a decision was made:
From the 6th semester, the program includes a module on translation work and intercultural communication (German and Armenian) as well as English and civilization. Students will choose one of these modules through the registrar system (in proportion to 50% of the number of students).
Within the framework of the program, students can choose an additional 30-credit equivalent course with the qualification of a pedagogue on a paid basis, which will provide an opportunity to work in public schools.
During study, specialists from abroad are regularly invited to conduct lectures, seminars, training, and research.
