With the aim of promoting the development of sustainable tourism in Armenia and Georgia, the project "Geoheritage Inventory, E-Guide, and Mobile App for Sustainable Tourism (Armenia and Georgia)", funded by the International Visegrad Fund, was launched. The online kickoff meeting, held on April 1, introduced the project's objectives and content to key stakeholders.
In particular, the project aims to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in Armenia and Georgia by fostering interregional cooperation and conducting an inventory of the geoheritage of both countries. Based on the scientific data obtained, the project will develop an electronic tourist guide and a mobile application. Within the framework of the project, exchange visits between the participating countries are planned to study best practices in the use of geoheritage for tourism purposes.
The online meeting was attended by Diana Karapetyan, Head of the Marketing and Promotion Department of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Armenia; Arsen Aproyan, Head of the Grants Coordination Department of the YSU International Cooperation Office; Seyran Suvaryan, Head of the Service Chair of the YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology; Eva Mereniks, representative of the International Visegrad Fund; and representatives of the project's partner universities: Krzysztof Labus (Silesian University of Technology), Martin Klempa (Technical University of Ostrava), and Olga Suskeria (Georgian Technical University). All delivered welcome remarks and highlighted the importance of the project and its scientific and practical contributions to the sustainable development of tourism in Armenia and Georgia.
