On February 23, the YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies hosted the renowned Lebanese industrialist, public figure, and author Nicolas Abou Fayssal, who met with the Faculty Dean Ruben Melkonyan, the Ambassador of Lebanon to Armenia Maya Dagher, and Head of the Chair of Arabic Studies Hayk Kocharyan to discuss avenues for bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, attention was given to Abou Fayssal's multifaceted activities, which encompass both the business sector and intellectual and cultural contributions. As the founder of the Gardenia Grain d'Or group and president of the Association of Bekaa Industrialists, he places significant emphasis on the role of industry in strengthening national identity. Notably, he also established the Gardenia Lebanese Farms in Armenia, thereby reinforcing Armenian-Lebanese economic ties.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around the author's new book, "Armenia… Death and a Reborn Life", which presents a unique narrative combining history, personal experience, and a vision for the future. An agreement was reached to organize an official book presentation and discussion within professional circles in the near future, allowing Oriental studies scholars and students to explore the author's ideas and his distinctive perspective on Armenia.
This meeting marked another step in the faculty's efforts to expand international relations and foster intercultural dialogue on contemporary and relevant topics.
