Representatives of the YSU Chair of Iranian Studies met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Khalil Shirgholami, at the Embassy of Iran in Yerevan. Prospective master's students of the chair also attended the meeting.
Welcoming the chair's representatives and students, Ambassador Shirgholami emphasized the significant role of the YSU Chair of Iranian Studies in promoting knowledge of Iranian culture and civilization.
In his remarks, the ambassador stated: "In Armenia, Iranian studies, thanks to the dedicated work of distinguished lecturers, particularly Professor Gurgen Melikyan, has evolved into a deep appreciation of Iran. You, the young students of Iranian studies, should continue this path and contribute to the further flourishing and development of this chair, so that you may become recognized scholars in the field in the future."
During the meeting, which was attended by the Head of the YSU Chair of Iranian Studies, Professor Vardan Voskanyan, Professor Gurgen Melikyan, and lecturer Garik Misakyan, the sides also discussed new prospects for academic and research cooperation. Professor Voskanyan proposed organizing an international conference of Iranologists at Yerevan State University, inviting leading scholars from across Eurasia.
The proposal was warmly received by Ambassador Shirgholami and is expected to create new opportunities for expanding international academic cooperation.
