Noonik Darbinian, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor at the YSU Chair of Iranian Studies, participated in the "E.G. Browne and the Making of Iranian Studies" literary conference. Organized by the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, the conference was dedicated to the legacy of renowned orientalist Edward Browne.
During the conference, Associate Professor Darbinian delivered a comprehensive and academically grounded presentation titled "Armenians in Edward Browne's Works," which received high praise from the international academic community. The success of the presentation opened new prospects for the researcher, as Darbinian was given access to Edward Browne's personal archives preserved in Cambridge, which she plans to study during the upcoming academic year.
As part of the visit, Darbinian held a number of productive meetings with Amira Bennison, Dean of the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies; Professor Christine van Ruymbeke; and Nargess Farzad, Head of the Department of Iranian Studies at SOAS University of London. As a result of the discussions, preliminary agreements were reached on implementing student exchange programs between the YSU Chair of Iranian Studies and the aforementioned academic institutions.
The visit marked an important step toward expanding the international partnerships of the YSU Chair of Iranian Studies and strengthening Armenian-Iranian academic ties.
