On October 10, 2026, the YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology organized a panel discussion titled "Mental Health in the Digital Age: Real Help or Virtual Illusion?" to mark World Mental Health Day.
In his opening remarks, Aleksan Baghdasaryan, Dean of the YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, reflected on the significance of the day, emphasizing mental health as an essential component of individual well-being and society's sustainable development. He also highlighted the need for initiatives that protect and improve health.
Hrant Avanesyan, Head of the Chair of General Psychology, Doctor of Psychological Sciences and Professor, then addressed the scientific and professional significance of mental health issues and the continuing relevance of research in this field.
Other attendees included Hrachya Hovhannisyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of General Psychology; Armen Bejanyan, Director of the APAGA Psychological Center; Zara Zakharyan, psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry of Yerevan State Medical University; Nazeli Kirakosyan, Research and Development Manager at the Armenian Spiritual Revival Foundation; and Stella Mnatsakanyan, who served as moderator.
The panel discussion was organized for students and faculty members to raise awareness of mental health, encourage professional dialogue and foster open, constructive discussions of psychological issues.
As part of the event, students were given an opportunity to submit anonymous questions to the psychologists. During a question-and-answer session at the end of the meeting, the experts addressed the questions submitted in advance, providing professional explanations and insights.
Meetings of this kind play an important role in raising students' awareness of mental health, offering opportunities to discuss issues that concern them and sharing professional knowledge about protecting and improving mental health.
