Dr. Harold Takushyan from Fordham University, a member of the American Psychological Association and the Board of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, was hosted at YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, where he delivered a lecture.
The meeting and lecture were initiated by Professor Hrant Avanesyan, Head of the Chair of General Psychology, within the framework of the "History of Psychology" course. Dr. Takushyan presented research on the history of psychology and provided students with professional insights regarding the first psychology conferences, congresses, and the geographical spread of psychology. He emphasized the importance of students’ scientific engagement. The speaker also talked about Psi Chi, noting that it was founded on the initiative of two active students.
Together with lecturer D. Sargsyan from the Chair of General Psychology, Dr. Takushyan introduced students to the Armenian branch of Psi Chi, known as YSU Psi Chi Chapter, which has been operating under the leadership of Hrant Avanesyan for five years. During the meeting, Head of the branch D. Sargsyan was awarded for his active involvement and contributions.
At the conclusion, students discussed interesting questions related to the history of psychology and exchanged necessary information to further enhance future collaboration.
