Admission Requirements

The Master’s degree program is offered in full-time study mode and has a duration of 2 years. The annual tuition fee is AMD 800,000. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a Master’s degree in Psychology, specializing in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.

Graduates holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Specialist Diploma qualification from state higher education institutions of the Republic of Armenia, as well as from accredited non-state higher education institutions that have undergone institutional accreditation and are accredited in the respective fields, are eligible to apply for admission to YSU Master’s degree programs offered in full-time study mode.

Admission to YSU Master’s degree programs in full-time study mode is carried out in accordance with the requirements set forth in the Admission Regulations for YSU Master’s Degree Programs (Full-Time and Part-Time Study).

Programme Objectives

The programme aims to develop students’ professional competencies to understand, interpret, and analyze theoretical and practical issues in clinical psychology and psychotherapy; provide students with fundamental knowledge of the conceptual foundations, core principles, and methods of various approaches to psychotherapy; equip students with the ability to apply psychotherapeutic methods from different approaches when working with clients experiencing a range of psychological and mental health disorders.

Advantages

Upon successful completion of the Master’s degree program, students will acquire the following professional knowledge and understanding: the ability to describe mental health criteria, the disease classifications of the DSM-5 and ICD-11, and methods of clinical psychodiagnosis; define the neurotic and psychotic levels of personality pathology; interpret the conceptual foundations, principles, and methodological approaches of various schools of psychotherapy; interpret knowledge related to psychoanalysis and psychology; explain the mechanisms of neuropsychology, the specific features of diagnosis, and the patterns of organic syndromes; and present contemporary concepts of personality.

Students will acquire the following practical professional skills: the ability to apply clinical tests and diagnose personality pathology; conduct expert assessments of mental functions; identify a patient’s psychological state and complete the relevant sections of medical records; provide consultations based on psychodiagnostic assessment; apply appropriate communication approaches when working with individuals experiencing various mental disorders; and adhere in practice to deontological principles when working with people with different mental disorders.

Students will also acquire the following general (transferable) skills: the ability to use a variety of sources in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, including online resources, electronic libraries, professional books, and scientific articles; analyze current issues in medical psychology and psychotherapy and assess possible approaches to addressing them; independently plan and conduct research in the fields of clinical psychology and psychotherapy, defining the research aim, objectives, object, subject, hypothesis, and other relevant components; prepare presentations and reports; analyze and present research findings; and engage in academic discussions and scientific debates.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the program may continue their studies in doctoral programs at the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of Yerevan State University.

Graduates of the Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy program may pursue careers as clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, psychocorrection specialists, and counseling psychologists.

Graduates of the educational program may find employment in a variety of institutions, including psychological centers in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia, psychiatric hospitals, hospitals of various specialties, the National Bureau of Forensic Examinations, correctional institutions, schools and child development centers, organizations working to prevent and combat domestic violence and torture, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian Red Cross Society, and international organizations, including the Avan Mental Health Center, Save the Children, Médecins Sans Frontières, the United Nations, World Vision Armenia, Somnus Neurological Clinic for Sleep Disorders, Mission Armenia, and City of Heroes.
