Admission Requirements

Admission to the Management Psychology educational programme is based on an oral examination. The mode of study is full-time, and the programme duration is 1.5 years. The annual tuition fee is AMD 800,000. The qualification awarded is Master of Psychology, with a specialization in Management Psychology.

Programme Director: Hrant Avanesyan, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of General Psychology.

Programme Objectives

The programme aims to prepare researchers and professionals with theoretical and practice-oriented knowledge in the fields of management, organizational, applied, and social psychology. Graduates will be able to analyze and systematize psychological issues related to public and private-sector management; anticipate, assess, analyze, regulate, and address psychological problems arising within organizations; manage human resources; introduce the results of research advances, professional knowledge, and expertise into organizational environments; and organize and facilitate organizational management through psychological counselling.

Advantages

The knowledge and competencies acquired through the programme enable graduates to provide psychological services within organizations, deliver training programmes, analyze existing issues in the field, and assess the resources required to address them.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the programme may pursue employment in public and private institutions, including banks in the Republic of Armenia, HR departments in the IT sector, advertising agencies, international organizations implementing educational and social programmes, television, and relevant units of commercial, entrepreneurial, and manufacturing organizations, in positions such as:

  • Psychological Counsellor;

  • Psychologist in Public Relations;

  • Human Resources Management Specialist;

  • Coordinator of Educational and Research Programmes;

  • Coordinator of Social and Psychological Programmes;

  • Marketing Psychologist;

  • Psychologist in an Educational Centre;

  • Training Programme Coordinator.

Graduates may continue their studies in the PhD programme of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology at Yerevan State University.

  13. The emergence of reflexology and its role in the development of modern psychology (Sechenov, Bekhterev, Pavlov)

  14. The development and principal propositions of behaviorism (Watson, Thorndike) and neobehaviorism (Tolman)

  15. Prerequisites for the development of psychoanalysis; interpretations of the unconscious and methods for studying the unconscious

  16. The holistic approach in psychology and the emergence of Gestalt psychology; fundamental principles of Gestalt psychology (Koffka, Külpe, Wertheimer)

  17. The development of the humanistic approach in psychology; its principal propositions (K. Goldstein, C. Rogers, A. Maslow)

  18. The structure of the psyche: mental processes, mental states, and mental properties

  19. Consciousness as the highest level of mental reflection; the principal functions of consciousness; the relationship between conscious and unconscious mental processes

  20. Psychophysiology as an interdisciplinary field; the relationship between physiological and mental processes

  21. Sensations as immediate cognitive processes; the physiological basis, principal properties, classification, and types of sensations

  22. Perception as a cognitive process; principal theories, types, and characteristics of perception

  23. Memory as a synthetic cognitive process; principal theories, functions, and classification of memory

  26. Language and speech activity; functions and types of speech; physiological mechanisms of speech
