The inaugural All-Armenian Korean Speech Contest 2026 was held at the YSU Faculty of International Relations as part of celebrations marking Hangeul Day, which honors the Korean alphabet.
The event was organized with support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS) of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS). The competition aimed to promote Korean language learning in Armenia, give students an opportunity to demonstrate their speaking skills and foster greater interest in Korean culture.
In his welcoming remarks, Tigran Yepremyan, Dean of the YSU Faculty of International Relations, PhD in History and Associate Professor, acknowledged the Academy of Korean Studies' support for the faculty. He noted that YSU regularly hosts events dedicated to the Korean language and culture. Yepremyan also highlighted the role of foreign languages in fostering cultural dialogue and mutual understanding between countries, wishing participants success and confidence in their presentations.
Participants then delivered speeches in Korean, covering topics such as learning the language, effective methods of foreign language study, Korean culture, the relationship between language and culture, and opportunities to introduce Armenia to Korean audiences.
The All-Armenian Korean Speech Contest 2026 provided a platform for Korean language learners across Armenia to connect, showcase their achievements and strengthen cultural ties between the Armenian and Korean peoples.
